65 Mustang Project

I bought this car for $2500 in 1996 for my wife. Then I decided it was too gutless with the 6cyl, So now it is a project. Maybe it will be done or close, this next year. Actually now it is paint jail, hopefully done by June 20012. This background picture is just about the only picture I have of the car when it had the 6 cylinder in it and before the fire in the garage.

Before, It has a 6 cyl and stock suspension

After, It has a 302 V8 and Mustang II suspension

The modifications are shown below.
It is still in the paint jail, but I hope to see it painted soon.

In the beginning I removed the shock towers, making room for more motor.

The next thing was building the new cross member and spring perch.

Motor mounts and steering is next. I went with a power rack and pinion. Mustang II

The motor is a 1969 302 bored 30 over w/351 heads Ported and Polished. Can't wait to get a dyno tune and find out how much horse power it has. Hoping for around 350 at the wheels.

It had to have disk brakes. Go fast, Stop fast. As they say.

And Rear disk with a Track Lock Posi-traction rear-end.

The panels where the shock towers were, are covered with metal that came with the kit for the front end. Everything but the rear disk and the master cylinder was included.

It has a Edelbrock Torker manifold and a new 600 Holley that I will have pictures of as soon as I get it back from the trans shop. Needed a new or correct flex-plate.

This was after the fire in my garage. Bad day!

Paint is most of what has to be done now, along with some major body work.

This was before the fire in 06 at the Sylvana Car Show. I won a trophy for first in unfinished project-street machine.  They had trophies for almost everyone that year.

I did find the picture of the mustang with the 6 cyl in it.

Here's pictures of the new dash.  It looks so great!

Here's little bigger picture of the dash.
